A Simple, Clear Process
01
Understand Your Needs
We start with a conversation about your budget, lifestyle, and priorities. Whether it’s a first car, family SUV, or daily commuter, I help define what truly suits you — and what to avoid.
02
Shortlist the Right Vehicles
I review listings, compare market pricing, check vehicle history, and identify models known for reliability. You’ll receive clear advice on which cars are worth pursuing — and which aren’t.
03
Inspect & Assess Risk
I attend inspections with you (or on your behalf) and perform a structured preliminary assessment. Where needed, I coordinate a qualified mechanic inspection before you commit.
04
Negotiate & Finalise
I guide — or handle — negotiations to help you avoid overpaying. I also support you through the final steps, including transfer and registration questions in Victoria.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you sell cars?
No. I don’t sell vehicles and I don’t receive commissions from dealers. I work exclusively for the buyer, providing independent advice and support throughout the purchase process.
Are you a licensed mechanic?
No. I provide a preliminary, non-invasive inspection and risk assessment only. Where appropriate, I recommend and can help arrange a full inspection with a qualified licensed mechanic before you purchase the vehicle.
What areas do you service?
Yes. I can attend inspections with you or inspect the vehicle on your behalf and provide a clear assessment and recommendation.
Do you guarantee the condition of the car?
I am based in Melbourne and service the greater Melbourne metropolitan area. Remote consultations are also available if you want advice before inspecting a car yourself.
Can you come with me to inspect a car?
Yes. I can guide you through the negotiation or handle discussions with the seller to help you avoid overpaying and understand the true market value of the car.
Can you help negotiate the price?
Most everyday passenger vehicles — first cars, family cars, SUVs, and commuter vehicles. I don’t deal with highly modified vehicles, classic collector cars, or commercial trucks.
Is this worth it for cheaper cars?
Often yes. A single hidden issue can cost thousands in repairs. My goal is to help you avoid costly mistakes and make a confident decision.
What types of cars can you help with?
Most everyday passenger vehicles — first cars, family cars, SUVs, and commuter vehicles. I don’t deal with highly modified vehicles, classic collector cars, or commercial trucks.
When should I contact you?
Ideally before you commit to a purchase or pay a deposit. The earlier I’m involved, the more I can help you avoid unsuitable vehicles.
How do I book?
Use the contact form on the website and briefly describe what you’re looking for (budget, type of car, or listing link). I’ll get back to you to arrange the next steps. Alternatively, you can email directly to info@smartcaradvice.com.au
